Chevrolet aiming to set a new record at Pikes Peak with 1250 hp Corvette ZR1X

Chevrolet is taking aim at one of motorsport’s toughest challenges with the new Corvette ZR1X. The 1250 hp hybrid supercar is set to attack the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, targeting a sub-9:53 run to become the fastest production car on the mountain.

Behind the wheel will be racer JR Hildebrand, piloting a 2027 Corvette ZR1X up the brutal 12.42-mile course. With 156 corners and an elevation gain of 4,725 feet, Pikes Peak is an extremely demanding as well as dangerous course that cannot be taken lightly.

The Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X will compete in the hybrid production class. It will be running a stock exhaust setup and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tyres to make the most out of its attempt.

Powering the ZR1X is a 5.5-litre V8 engine accompanied by a front-mounted electric motor. With an all-wheel-drive setup, this car has a 0-60 mph time of just 1.89 seconds with the ZTK pack.
