Porsche discontinues two Taycan models due to low sales

Porsche is reportedly pulling the plug on the Taycan Sport Turismo and Taycan Cross Turismo, effectively ending its experiment with electric wagons. With the updated Taycan due in 2027, the lineup is being streamlined, and the niche body styles are the first to go.

Porsche Taycan sales peaked in the US back in 2023, with 7,570 units moved. Since then, the trajectory has been downward – 4,747 cars in 2024, and just 4,142 in 2025. The decline hasn’t slowed this year either, with only 607 units sold in the first quarter, compared to 1,019 during the same period last year.

Porsche has acknowledged the reality. Offering multiple body styles for a model that’s losing momentum simply doesn’t add up. Especially now, as EV demand softens in key markets and buyers begin to reconsider.

The Cross Turismo, with its rugged stance, and the sleeker Sport Turismo both brought character to the Taycan range. They made it different. But in today’s market, being different isn’t always enough.
