Ferrari trademarks hint at F80 Spider, manual 12Cilindri, new GTO

Ferrari has filed new trademarks that provide a glimpse into Maranello’s future product plan. Some of the most notable nametags include F80 Targa (F80 Spider), a new GTO and 12Cilindri MM.

When Ferrari introduced the F80 hypercar, it was all but certain that there would be a Spider version in the future. It could feature a removable targa top instead of a retractable roof. Ferrari has also registered the ‘F80 Roadster’ wordmark.

Besides the LaFerrari Aperta successor, Ferrari has also filed ‘Ferrari F80XX’ and ‘Ferrari FXX80’ trademarks, possibly for a highly exclusive track version.

Ferrari has also registered the 12Cilindri MM name. This won’t be the first time Ferrari has used the ‘MM’ suffix, which stands for Mille Miglia. It has been used since the 1950s. It was last used on the one-off 488 MM Speciale.

According to our sources, Ferrari is working on a special edition 12Cilindri equipped with a manual gearbox. It would make sense for this driver-focused version to be named 12Cilindri MM.

A more hardcore version of the new V12 GT could also be on the cards, as Ferrari has filed a trademark for 12Cilindri GTO, which would be the spiritual successor to the 812 Competizione.

And finally, a track-focused version of the 296 called the 296 Challenge Stradale could be in the works. It could be positioned above the 296 Speciale.
