Mercedes’ first-ever electric C-Class is here to rival the BMW i3


Mercedes-Benz has revealed its first-ever electric C-Class. The new C-Class EV will take on the BMW i3 in the global market. So, what’s special about the latest electric sedan from Mercedes?

The C400 4MATIC is powered by dual electric motors delivering a combined output of 482 hp, enough to catapult the EV from 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds. It rides on air suspension and comes equipped with rear-axle steering.

The battery is a 94 kWh unit that gives the car a maximum range of 473 miles (WLTP cycle). Mercedes claims that charging the battery using a DC fast charger for 10 minutes gives a range of 202 miles.

Moving on to the exterior of the all-new electric C-Class, the EV features a large illuminated grille with Mercedes’ 3-pointed star in the centre. The headlamps also house star-shaped LEDs.

The car has a smooth, aerodynamic design with a notchback-style side profile. The rear features a black wraparound element which houses circular LED taillights.

The highlight of the C-Class EV’s interior is the dashboard – more specifically, the massive 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen that spans the entire width of the dashboard.
