Summary
The Volvo EX30 Cross Country is a range-topping model in Volvo’s compact electric EX30 range. It differs from the standard SUV/crossover thanks to more rugged exterior styling, a raised ride height, and the availability of top-spec dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrain.
The Cross Country has received a mostly positive reviewer reception since its launch in 2025, described by Car’s Curtis Moldrich as an “interesting” model option that is a “stylish, capable, and pricey addition to Volvo’s EV lineup.” Parker’s Keith Adams adds that the model offers “added comfort over the standard car, more presence, and some extra confidence for winter driving or light off-road use.”
On the other hand, Heycar’s Ivan Aistrop questions if this Cross Country model is really necessary. “The Volvo EX30 is already an SUV, so making it look more like an SUV seems a little, well, pointless.” He adds that this range-topper has “the same modern design, strong refinement and relaxed driving manners” as the standard EX30, “but it also has the same drawbacks, such as an over-reliance on touchscreen technology, questionable quality in places, and limited practicality.”
Noting the rather steep price increase over the rest of the EX30 range, Autotrader’s Dan Trent finds it easier to recommend SUV alternatives, such as the “more spacious” Volvo EX40 for its “better range and more relevant performance”, or the Fiat Grande Panda Electric or Jeep Avenger Electric, which “offer a similarly rugged vibe for a lot less money.”

No eco rating
As of January 2026, the Volvo EX30 Cross Country has not been assessed by Green NCAP.
The Green NCAP programme measures exhaust pollution (which is zero for an electric car) and energy efficiency. Electric cars are much more energy-efficient than combustion cars, so the EX30 Cross Country is likely to score very highly in Green NCAP testing if and when it takes place. Check back again soon.

Warranty on a used Volvo EX30 Cross Country
- If you are buying an ‘Approved Used’ Volvo EX30 Cross Country from an official Volvo dealership, you will get a minimum 12-month warranty (for cars under five years old) included.
- If you are buying a used Volvo EX30 Cross Country from an independent dealership, any warranty offered will vary and will probably be managed by a third-party warranty company.
- If you are buying a used Volvo EX30 Cross Country from a private seller, there are no warranty protections beyond any remaining portion of the original new car warranty.
If you’re looking to buy any used car that is approaching the end of its warranty period, a used car warranty is usually a worthwhile investment. Check out The Car Expert’s guide to the best used car warranty providers, which will probably be cheaper than a warranty sold by a dealer.
